The Role of Non-Resonance Exchange Processes in Gas-Dynamic Lasers (O Roli Protsessov Pererezonansonogo Obmena v Gazodinamicheskikh Lazerakh),

Abstract

It was demonstrated previously that non-resonance vibrational exchange plays an important role in gas lasers; during scattering of gaseous mixtures, non-resonance exhange processes lead to appreciable redistribution of vibratonal level populations and to variation of effective relaxation times. The possibilities of gas-dynamic lasers, related to adequate consideration of non-resonance exchange, are considered in the given investigation. For analysis of the kinetics of the processes the authors use a system of equations of the balance of vibration energies for a mixture of gases whose molecules are simulated by two types of harmonic oscillators. The presence of Boltzmann distribution of populations by levels with their own vibrational-band temperature is assumed in each of the components.
