Experimental Investigations of the Light Amplification Factor in CO2 + N2 + He(H2O) Mixtures during Expansion in a Supersonic Nozzle (Eksperimentalnye Issledovaniya Koeffitsienta Usilenyai Svets v Smesyakh CO2 + N2 + He(HeO) pri Rasshirenii v Sverkhzvukovom Sople),

Abstract

In the present investigation the light amplification factor of a mixtyre of 10% CO2 + 40% N2 + 50% He was measured during supersonic expansion over a wide range of variation of experimental conditions: total temperature T = 800-3600K, and gas pressure P = 2.5-40 atm, where the relative nozzle cross-section assumed several fixed values S/S* = 18.2, 36.2, 49 and 59, where S* is the critical nozzle cross-section, and S is the cross-section in the measurement zone. A mixture of 10% CO2 + (90 - X)% N2 + X% H2O (where X = 0-5%) was investigated in the total temperature range of T = 800-2200K and total pressure range of P = 1.5-40 atm with relative nozzle cross-section of S/S* = 18.2, 36.2, and 59. The data obtained for the amplification factor are compared with values which were calculated by a previously proposed method.
