Permeability Calibration of Cellophane Tubing Under Conditions of Simple Dialysis and Ultrafiltration.

Abstract

The percents escape of protein standards were shown to be directly proportional to their molecular weights. The 4,000 dalton standard demonstrated a loss of 40% after 24 hours of simple dialysis; standards equal to or greater than 9,000 daltons demonstrated an almost negligible loss (2% or less). Dialysis membrane retained none of the 4,000 dalton standard during ultrafiltration and demonstrated escapes of 6% to 24% for standards with molecular weights between 9,000 and 45,000 daltons. Loss of the 67,000 and 150,000 dalton standards during ultrafiltration was negligible. (Author)
