Evaluation of Several Wire Mesh Screens for the Protection and Ventilation of Meteorological Sensors.

Abstract

The report contains information concerning tests of the ventilation of a screen device for the protection of meteorological sensors which are proposed for use at a remote atmospheric observation station in a desert climate. The objective of the study is to find an optimum screen which provides sufficient ventilation for good accuracy, but still adequately protects the sensor against airborne blowing dust, sand, and gravel native to White Sands Missile Range.
