Modeling Maneuvering Airborne Target Motion with a Coloring Noise Filter.

Abstract

A method of modeling the motion of maneuvering airborne targets using a coloring filter having a white noise input is investigated. The characteristics of the simulated maneuvers depend on the time constant of the coloring filter and the standard deviation of the white noise input. The performance of a Kalman filter based on this model of target motion compares favorably with the performance of filters derived from other models of target motion. (Author)
