The Relation of Turbulent Diffusivities to Lagrangian Velocity Statistics for the Simplest Shear Flow

Abstract

On the assumption that mean turbulent transport can be modeled by a flux gradient term, the turbulent diffusivities are related to statistical properties of the Lagrangian velocity field for a homogeneous stationary shear flow. The use of the result in dealing with problems of a more practical nature is discussed.
