Determining the Vapor Pressure of Metals at High Temperatures

Abstract

In this work the vapor pressure of refractory metals was determined using the evaporation rate of a substance from a cylindrical crucible. The use of such a crucible for determining the evaporation rate has a number of advantages. The duration of the test in determing the evaporation of the substance from such a crucible is considerably shorter than during the evaporation from an effusion cell.
