'Elastomers for Service with Engine Lubricants and Hydraulic Fluids',

Abstract

This program was undertaken to develop the fluorinated phospha-zene elastomer into compounded stocks for use as O-rings, gaskets and seals. Compounded stocks have been developed with tensile strengths to about 2200 psi, and elongations of about 100-300%. Furthermore, retention of these properties after fluid aging, isothermal aging in air, exposure to high humidity and jet fuels has been demonstrated. A stock immersed in JP-4 jet fuel at 239^F for 334 hours retained 70% of its original tensile strength. (Author, modified-PL)
