D-Region Ionization Rates for the 2 to 5 November 1969 PCA Event as Determined from Satellite Proton Flux Measurements,

Abstract

D-region ionization rates have been determined from satellite proton spectra as a function of altitude for forty-four instances during the period of 2 to 5 November 1969 Polar Cap Absorption Event. The ionization rates were calculated using least square fits to the satellite proton spectra in both energy and rigidity. The combined results provide ionization rates for the event as a function of universal time. (Author)
