Research and Development on Characterization of Electromagnetic Materials.

Abstract

Experimental work was conducted on the thermodynamic properties of several materials including samarium, cobalt, zinc-selenide, cadmium-telluride and mercury-cadmium-telluride. Isotopic intensities were determined on several isotopes and the results shown graphically. The second and third law thermodynamic properties were calculated from accumulated data and the tabulated results are included. Even though the thermodynamic properties of mercury-cadmium-telluride were not obtained, a discussion is given on some observations made during test runs and some interesting chemical analyses are shown. Several organic laser dye materials and liquid crystal materials were synthesized and investigated. The synthesis routes to these materials are detailed and the characterization results of the materials presented in tabular form. (Author)
