Analysis of the Mechanisms of the Influence of Organophosphorus Inhibitors of Cholinesterase on the Metabolism of Phospholipids in the Brain,

Abstract

Sublethal doses of LG-63, an organophosphate cholinesterase inhibitor, showed no effect on phospholipid metabolism in the brain of the rat, but led to a reduction in the intensity of such metabolism in the brain of the mouse. This difference is related to the more pronounced hypothermia produced in the mouse by the toxic agent. Effects of the organophosphate cholinesterase inhibitors were studied in relation to conditions of acute oxygen starvation. Parallel tests were run on phospholipid metabolism in the liver.
