Stabilization of Optical Communication Systems.

Abstract

Due to the narrow beam divergence of a laser or optical communication system, small angular motions of either terminal can cause misalignment. This report analyzes such motion which results when the terminal is mounted on a military vehicle subjected to wind forces. A mathematical model is developed for the vehicle and simulated on a digital computer. The resulting motion due to wind forces is analyzed to determine the stabilization requirements for mounting a laser under such conditions. (Author)
