Study to Apply the 'New Generation' of Military Hospitals Planning Concepts at Travis AFB, California. Volume 4. Analysis of the Department of Dentistry.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to develop recommendations for a new generation dental facility at Travis Air Force Base (TAFB). This was done by examining the present method of operation of the dental facility at TAFB, obtaining a pattern of patients and their utilization of the dental facilities at the clinics on the site, and determining the tupes of service offered and who uses them. The demand model concept was used to project the number of visits and ancillary services by specialty over the planning period. From this projection and a study of the state of the art of dentistry, recommendations are herein made for a direct dental outpatient service using the latest state-of-the-art techniques, primarily four-handed sit-down dentistry, and expanded functions.
