Optical Pumps for Lasers.

Abstract

The specific objective was to investigate and improve those lamp design and operating parameters which affect laser beam quality in a given laser cavity. The parameters which were investigated included: gas fill and gas pressure, arc diameter, preionization techniques, laser rod size, and laser rod surface condition. The lamps were evaluated in free air, in a fluorescence measuring device, and in actual laser cavities. (Modified author abstract)
