A Policy Driven Scheduler for a Time-Sharing System.

Abstract

In some current papers an operating system developed at the General Electric Research and Development Center was described. The system provides a spectrum of service including standard batch, remote initiated batch, conversational mode operation, and limited real-time capabilities. Recently a new scheduling algorithm was implemented in the system. In the report the authors describe the algorithm together with some of their experiences using it.
