Some Numerical Considerations Concerning Eigenvalue Problems in the Theories of Underwater Sound and Internal Waves,

Abstract

The numerical treatment of the time-independent Schrodinger equation applied on the wave equations for underwater sound propagation and internal waves is considered. Some mathematical and physical aspects of spectral theory are described. A computer program based on cubic spline interpolation of the sound speed profile and a matrix eigenvalue method is explained and added as an appendix. Some examples are given. (Author)
