Application of Three Unsteady Aerodynamic Load Prediction Methods.

Abstract

The report assembles applications of several unsteady aerodynamic prediction methods performed at the Air Force Flight Dynamics Laboratory during the last few years. Unsteady pressures, generalized aerodynamic forces and flutter data are presented for planar wings, coplanar and noncoplanar wing-tail configurations, and intersecting lifting surfaces. Also presented are covergence properties and comparisons with other available data (i.e. exact theory, test data, and results from other methods). The methods, some of which include the effects of aerodynamic interaction, were found to be fully workable and constitute valuable research and design tools. (Author)
