An Evaluation of an Exhaust Muffler for Open Circuit Scuba Developed by the U.S. Navy Mine Defense Laboratory,

Abstract

An exhaust muffler of noise suppression device, for installation in the exhaust circuit of an open-circuit scuba, is given extensive mechanical respirator and subjective tank evaluation and limited field test. The device has definite respiratory limitations and its use is consequently recommended to be restricted to light work and to specific depths. (Modified author abstract)
