Acoustic Diffraction by Spheroids.

Abstract

The diffraction of plane and spherical acoustic waves by spheroidal-shaped baffles is investigated analytically. Spheroidal coordinates and associated spheroidal wave functions are used to formulate exact solutions for the diffraction of a spherical wave by an oblate spheroid (circular disk) and the scattering of a plane wave by a thin prolate spheroid (cigar-shaped body).
