Modified Deep Sea Diving Helmet.

Abstract

The evaluation was made to ascertain the operability of a deep sea helmet modified to permit direct return of the exhaust to the surface. If all exhaust gas could be piped back to the surface the acoustical noise emanating from the diver could be materially reduced. The unit as received from the manufacturer was found to be unsatisfactory in that there was insufficient exhaust capacity to permit the diver to descent and the helment relief valve was so constructed that it could not reliably be assembled.
