Theoretical Dynamic Response of an Elastic-Viscoplastic Cantilever Beam.

Abstract

The exact solution for bending response of a massless cantilever beam carrying a concentrated tip mass is presented. The loading is a triangular base acceleration pulse. Timewise development of a visco-plastic hinge of variable length is traced as well as the associated displacement, curvature, curvature rate and moment. A response shock spectrum is determined. Approximate solutions using constant, pre-determined hinge length are also presented. (Author)
