Light Induced Modulation of Absorption (LIMA) In Copper-Doped Single Crystals CdS Platelets. Part I. Experimental.

Abstract

The study concerns experimental observations of induced modulated transmittance of a weak monochromatic light probe due to chopped laser excitation. The author varied the weak light probe wavelength, crystal temperature, laser excitation chopping frequency, and intensity. Also provided are luminescence and photoconductivity measurements; these are compared with the Light Induced Modulation of Absorption (LIMA) measurements. Results indicate that substantial changes in modulated transmittance occur. It is thought that the technique based on LIMA may well lead to a better understanding of trapping and recombination kinetics in semiconductors.
