Integration Modifications to Accommodate Solar Radiation Discontinuities.

Abstract

Discontinuities which appear in problems involving numerical integration may require special attention if a multistep algorithm is used. The report describes the changes which were made to the ASTRO computer program in order to accommodate the discontinuities in the solar radiation pressure affecting a satellite as it enters and leaves the Earth's shadow. Of particular interest is the improvement in the accuracy of an ephemeris by a factor of 40 at negligible cost in terms of additional computer time. (Author)
