Relation Education Index Norms for 1500 Word Pairs and 10 Relations: High School Sample.
Abstract
Along with vocabulary level and type of relation, relation education frequency is identified as a potentially important determiner of verbal analogy item difficulty. This report presents relation education frequency data on 1500 word pairs and 10 relations. The data are expressed in terms of the percentage of a group of subjects who educe the given relation in the given word pair (the relation education index, or REI). These data are to be used in the investigation of the effects of social class factors in reasoning by analogy. (Author)
