MHD Power Generation (Viking Series) with Hydrocarbons Fuels. Experimental and Analytical Research on a Two Megawatt, High Performance MHD Generator.
Abstract
The Second Interim Report - Part I presents the further results of a combined analytical and experimental program whose broad objectives are: (1) to achieve a more complete understanding of the operation and appropriate design techniques of compact high performance MHD generators by further establishing the detailed analytical basis of the performance of these generators; and (2) to demonstrate the feasibility of operating compact high performance MHD generators under a repetitively pulsed mode of operation at high power levels -- in this case at the 2 MW level. In Interim Report No. 1, the design and fabrication of a 2 MW MHD generator and test facility was discussed. In this report, Interim Report No. 2 - Part I, are presented the results and discussions of tests performed using the 2 MW MHD generator and test facility. (Modified author abstract)
