Flight Test of a Hingeless Flexbeam Rotor System

Abstract

This report presents the results of flight tests of a stiff-in-plane flexbeam hingeless four-bladed main rotor, hereafter referred to as the Model 609. The tests were conducted on a modified UH-1 at gross weights from 10,000 to 14,000 pounds and at level-flight speeds up to 150 knots to evaluate performance, handling qualities, maneuverability, and load levels. The tests also evaluated a focused pylon system designed for isolating rotor vibrations.
