Effect of Selected Impurities on the High Temperature Mechanical Properties of Hot-Pressed Silicon Nitride.

Abstract

Additions of CaO to high purity beta-Si3N4, which was hot-pressed to full density with the aid of MgO, was found to significantly influence the high temperature mechanical properties. Other impurity additions, viz., Al2O3, Fe2O3, Li2CO3 and Na2CO3, had no effect. (Author)
