Loss of Stability of a Cylindrical Shell on Longitudinal Impact,

Abstract

It was shown that the stability loss of a cylindrical shell on longitudinal impact against the end by an infinite mass is axisymmetric at the initial instant of bulging. The found theoretical wavelengths and the actual fact of the axisymmetric state of the initial stage of bulging are in good agreement with the known experimental data.
