Telemetry, Ranging and Instrumentation Systems for Space Vehicles.

Abstract

The report summarizes the work carried under programs concerned with telemetry system studies, rocket and balloon instrumentation systems, tone-ranging system performance, evaluation of commercial telemetry system components, EMI testing of satellite components and field support of certain sounding rockets and balloons. Computer programs were developed to analyze performance of FDM/FM systems as well as commutator segment assignment. Effort in support of ICE CAP programs produced an inflight calibrator, a first motion switch, a tone-ranging system evaluation, and field support. The balloon support effort produced a special commutator/decommutator and an evaluation of subcarrier taper. A listing, only, is given of the various commercial telemetry components tested since detailed results are published in scientific reports which are available to authorized agencies. EMI testing procedures are developed for the S3 small satellite program. Finally, a tabulation is given of the field support rendered in connection with the various programs. (Author)
