Investigation of Radiofrequency Interference to the Backup Emergency Communication Equipment at the Elwood, New Jersey, Long-Range Radar Site.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate radiofrequency interference (RFI) to the backup emergency communication (BUEC) equipment at operational long-range radar sites (LRRS). The investigative effort consisted of determining the sources of RFI, the frequency and intensity of RFI at various locations within the LRRS, and the BUEC frequencies affected by the RFI. Various methods of eliminating or reducing the effects of this RFI were studied. This report discusses the methodology and results of these RFI studies.
