Successive Equilibration of Ill-Conditioned Matrices.
Abstract
A method for reducing the condition number of an ill-conditioned linear algebraic system is discussed. It is based on the idea of scaling the matrix before each step of Gauss elimination. The method is not competitive with Householder or fast Givens orthogonal transformation methods or methods based on the singular value decomposition. (Author)
