Linear Parametric Instabilities at High Pump Powers.

Abstract

The linear parametric decay and oscillating two stream instabilities have been studied at high pump power for perturbations propagating oblique to the pump field. The electrostatic Vlasov Poisson system for a homogeneous two component plasma has been solved numerically to investigate the high frequency branches of these instabilities. Results show that the maximum growth rate of the oscillating two stream instability occurs oblique to the pump field for power levels above a critical value. (Modified author abstract)
