Cartridge Leak Test Procedures at the Naval Ordnance Station, Indian Head, Maryland

Abstract

The CAD Division Test Branch at the Naval Ordnance Station, Indian Head, Maryland, conducts cartridge leak tests in accordance with MIL-STD-331 (Test 118) and MIL-D-21625 to determine if any gas leak exists in the seal of a given cartridge. This report summarizes the theory and basic operation of the leak test equipment and details the procedures used at Indian Head.
