A Feasibility Study of Cold Process Retreading and Its Adaptability to the Army Maintenance Program.

Abstract

This research is designed to answer the following questions: What is cold process retreading; is cold process retreading superior to conventional hot cap retreading; what costs need be considered for cold process retreading; what advantages does cold process retreading offer for the Army Maintenance program. To answer these questions, the method of cold process retreading, particularly Bandag cold process retreading, is discussed. Comparisons are made between cold and hot (conventional) retreading. The cost of Bandag retreading equipment, plant layout and manpower requirements are also researched. Military applications and potential cost effectiveness of Bandag retreading are investigated. Finally, the cost of Bandag retreading as a function of production rate is also analyzed. (Modified author abstract)
