Abstract

The Secretary of the Army established the Army Materiel Acquisition Review Committee (AMARC) in December 1973, to operate under the guidance of a Steering Committee composed of the Under Secretary of the Army, the Vice Chief of Staff, and the Assistant Secretaries of the Army for Research and Development, and for Installations and Logistics. The effort was specified to include: A comprehensive review, analysis and critique of the Army's materiel acquisition process; recommendations for improvement, with concentration on organization (especially AMC), and procedures
