Study of Air Traffic Management Systems for the Short-Range (1974-1978) and Mid-Range (1979-1986) Time Frames. Executive Summary. Volume I.

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to recommend appropriate conceptual air traffic management systems for the short-range (1974-1978) and mid-range (1979-1986) time frames, including the transition period. Study objectives were to reassess the degree of automation required in light of the high air defense threat environment, changing doctrine and tactics, and budgetary constraints; and to develop the necessary information on which the USATRADOC user community can base a position with respect to further Air Traffic Management Automated Center (ATMAC) development.
