An Experimental Investigation of Unsymmetric Crack Tip Deformation Fields in Materials with Nonuniform Properties.

Abstract

An experimental investigation of elastoplastic crack tip deformation fields is carried out in aluminum specimens having one-dimensional variations in material strength in the vicinity of the crack tip in directions skewed to the crack axis. A comparison of the measured strains with proposed analytical results is presented. (Author)
