Medi-Nixe,

Abstract

The Medi-Nixe is a self-contained oxygen scuba of foreign manufacture. It was sent to this activity for evaluation with the following objectives: Determination of its suitability for military operations; Determination of the quality of construction; and complete photographic coverage. The evaluation followed the standard procedure for closed-circuit oxygen scuba. The breathing machine and depth runs were satisfactory for rest and light swim rates, but not for standard and heavier rates. The discussion points to carbon dioxide as the limiting factor in duration. (Modified author abstract)
