Production of Fine Details Using Contrast and Compensating Developers,

Abstract

Characteristic curves and the curves of resolving power vs. exposure were plotted for different development times in two contrast and three compensating developers. Panchromatic film, types 10 and 11, were used. When identically exposed negatives were developed to almost their maximum sensitivity in either a contrast or a compensating developer, the maximum resolving powers were identical. With overexposed negatives, the compensating developer gives better details in the negative and the resulting print from it.
