The Coalescence of Water Drops.

Abstract

The report presents the first year results of a theoretical study which attempts to explain the phenomena of coalescence of drops. Even though the model represents a gross simplification of the real situation, it shows remarkable agreement with some of the experimental results which were recently published. At this stage the model investigates the effects of the viscous force between the interacting drops, but future work will include both the effects of the electrical double layer and the oscillation of the surfaces of the drops.
