Computer Aided Design for Dual-Mode CFA.

Abstract

A report is presented on a computer-aided research project to aid in the development of versatile dual operating-mode crossedfield amplifiers. The year's tasks are summarized and a historical summary of previous research is presented. Results of studies made of simple grids neglecting the effects of space charge electric fields is presented. Progress on the development of a computer program to study electron guns using the 'mesh' approach is described. Interaction equations of the CFA are developed in complex form. (Author)
