The Calculation of the Characteristics of Stabilized Electric Arc Heating of Gases at High Pressures,

Abstract

The authors give relationships for the calculation, by the method of successive approximations, of the electrical and thermal characteristics during stabilized (asymptotic) heating of a gas from the column of an electric arc in a circular duct, with consideration of radiation. A simplified method is proposed for estimating the effect of radiation on the basis of data on the degree of blackness of the plane-parallel layer or of the hemispheric volume. The results of the calculations for air are given.
