Abstract

A two-volume work analyzes various formulations of the Nixon Doctrine for U.S. strategy and programs in East Asia and related areas with emphasis on the issues and possibilities of the late 1970 (and 1980) time period. The analysis considers the basic factors and context for U.S. policy, potential issues, crises, and policy choices and their likely implications for the U.S. and other nations. The report also analyzes the bilateral relations between the major countries in the area and the United States, and the advisory and assistance role for the DoD and other agencies of the U.S. Government. Volume III is AD784255.
