The Effect of Additional Alloying on the Properties of the Alloys of the MG-Li-Al System,

Abstract

The authors examine the results of the alloying of the alloy Mg + 5% Li + 5% Al with comparatively small additions of Zn, Mn, Ag, Cd, Ni, Ca, Ce, La, Nd and Y. The effect of the above elements on the mechanical properties of the alloy was studied in heat-compressed conditions after keeping them at 100C for one hundred hours, and at room temperature for six months. This made it possible to evaluate the stability of the properties of the alloys investigated under both excess (up to 100C) and normal temperature conditions. Microstructure is discussed.
