The Boring of Certain Hard-to-Work Materials in the Presence of Tin-Zinc Eutectic Solution,

Abstract

The influence of a eutectic fusion of tin and zinc on the process of drilling hard-to-work materials, steels, G-13, 45, R18F5K, and the alloy ZhS6K were investigated. It is demonstrated that the application of a tin-zinc eutectic solution as an active lubricating and cooling fluid leads to increased speed in drilling, to a great decrease in specific work of cutting, and to a significant decrease in wear on instruments.
