Some Statistical Tests for the Analysis of Sonar Data.

Abstract

Statistical tests useful in analysis of sonar data are discussed. Included are selected tests for randomness, independence, homogeneity, and normality. Most of these tests are distribution-free. Following a brief tutorial discussion of hypothesis testing, the hypotheses of interest are defined, and motivation for testing these hypotheses is given. A number of appropriate tests are then described, and a discussion is given of their comparative usefulness. The report is intended for the engineer or physicist concerned with the analysis of sonar data. (Author)
