Effect of a Pulsed Electric Field on the Formation of a Latent Image in Lead Iodide and Silver Oxalate,

Abstract

A mechanism of the formation of a latent image in PbI2 and Ag2C2O4 by the action of synchronized electric field and light pulses was studied. A quartz plate was vacuum coated with PbI2 and metallic Ag strips and fixed between 2 Cu disk electrodes; one electrode had parallel slits perpendicular to the Ag strips. The potential of the electric pulse was varied. The plate was illuminated with a Xe lamp impulse source through the electrode slits. A photoelectric mechanism of light absorptivity of PbI2 is discussed. An electric field has no effect on formation of latent image in Ag2C2O4.
