The Discrete Adaptive Observer.

Abstract

The adaptive observer constitutes a stable identification scheme for simultaneously estimating the state variables and the parameters of a given system (the plant), from measurements on its input and output. During the past year, several realizations of the adaptive observer for continuous linear systems have appeared in the control literature. In this report, a scheme has been developed for an adaptive observer for linear discrete systems. This result enables the adaptive procedure to be directly simulated on a digital computer and assures the asymptotic stability of the overall system.
