Ecological Investigation of the Benthosfauna in the Baltic Canal. III. Autecology of Vagile and Hemisessile Species on Piles Overgrown with Vegetation and Animals: Macrofauna. 5. Mollusks (Okologische Untersuchungen ueber die Benthosfauna im Nordostseekanal. III. Autokologie der Vagilen und Hemisessilen Arten im Bewuchs der Pfahle: Makrofauna. 5. Mollusken),

Abstract

Data are given on the life cycles of vagile and hemisessile micro- and macroanimals of the pile community of the Baltic Canal. Euryhaline animals alter their life rhythm when leaving the sea and going into brackish water. The stronger the limnic influence, the more retarded are development and growth. The environment influences the overall regulation and coordination system of development and alters all functions of these organisms when environmental changes occur. (Author)
