Concerning the Crossed Allergic Reactions Caused by Conjugates of Dinitrophenol with Protein, and Their Specific Inhibition,
Abstract
The sensitization of guinea pigs by conjugates of dinitrophenol+bovine gamma-globulin and dinitrophenol+bovine fibrinogen showed the possibility of developing immediate-type crossed allergic reactions (anaphylactic shock). Intravenous introduction before testing the conjugates to dinitrochlorbenzene (DNCB)-sensitized guinea pigs produced a more intensitive cross inhibition of development of skin-allergic contact reaction (contact dermatitis) than the same intravenous injection of DNCB in TWEEN-80. The depression of dermatitis is expressed (visually and histologically) the less the period between the hyposensitizing introduction of allergen and testing.
